Workshops Arts & Culture

Free, RSVP required Instructor: David Franusich, Multimedia Designer, Virginia Tech Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology This hands-on workshop offers an introduction to projection mapping, a technique that transforms objects and spaces into dynamic, interactive displays using digital projections. Participants will learn the basics of designing, mapping, and projecting visuals onto irregular surfaces like buildings, sculptures, or everyday objects. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, attendees will gain an understanding of the hardware, software, and creative concepts involved in projection mapping. By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with the skills to experiment with their own projection mapping projects, blending art, technology, and architecture in new and exciting ways. No prior experience is necessary, though a basic familiarity with design software will be helpful. Think Differently – These seminars offer creative professional development at the intersection of art, innovation, and daily life. This seminar is designed through creativity between the Institute for Creative, Arts, and Technology at Virginia Tech, Expressions at Amazon Arlington, and the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts.
